Three Captains of India on South Africa Tour.
Surya will take charge of T20, KL Rahul ODI and Rohit Sharma will take command of Test team
The Indian team has been announced in all three formats for the South Africa tour. In each format, a different captain will command the team. Suryakumar Yadav will captain in T-20, KL Rahul in ODI and Rohit Sharma in Test.
It was believed that Rohit Sharma would also be given the captaincy of the T-20 team. However, Rohit has kept himself away from both T-20 and ODI teams. Virat Kohli will also not play in both these series.
On this tour which is going to start from December 10, Team India has to play a series of 3 T-20, 3 ODI and 2 Test matches. The team will leave for this tour on 6 December. Experienced batsman Virat Kohli has been rested for the T20 and ODI series of the tour. He himself had asked for a break from these two series.
T-20 team: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj, Mukesh Kumar and Deepak Chahar.
ODI team: KL Rahul (captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudarshan, Tilak Verma, Rajat Patidar, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar.

Talking points of team selection
* Pujara-Rahane have no place in the Test team. Test specialist batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have not got a place in the Indian Test team. Pujara has scored 535 runs in 10 Tests on African pitches. Whereas Ajinkya Rahane has scored 402 runs in 6 test matches.
* Sai Sudarshan and Rinku got a chance in ODI for the first time. Young Sai Sudarshan and Rinku Singh got a chance in the ODI team for the first time. Rinku has debuted for the T-20 team. Sai has not made his debut in international cricket.
* Suryakumar dropped from ODI team Suryakumar Yadav, who was a part of the Indian team in the ODI World Cup, has been dropped from the ODI team. He is currently captaining the Indian team in the 5 T20 series against Australia
* Samson returns to the ODI team, no place in T-20 Sanju Samson has returned to the ODI team, whereas he has not got a chance in the T-20 and Test team

India has not been able to win the test series in South Africa. The test performance of the Indian team in South Africa has not been special. Team India has not been able to win the Test series in South Africa till now. The team has played 8 test series so far on African grounds. One of these was a draw, while Team India had to face defeat in 7 series.
The team has played 23 test matches there. Out of these, the team has won only 4, while 7 matches have been drawn. The Indian team has faced defeat in the remaining 12 matches.
